Sonoma residence

Valley of the Moon

Kenwood, California

Renovation of an existing home with views out the rear of the house that look east towards pastures and Mayacamas Mountains beyond.

Relationship to the landscape

An open plan scheme which included the removal of an existing partition wall between the kitchen and living room, opening the kitchen of the house to the view.

Kitchen

Cabinetry is wall-hung with strip LED lighting creating an illusion of a larger space.  Cork flooring (a nod to being located in Wine Country) runs throughout the house connecting the breakfast area, kitchen and living room to the yard outside.  The yard has a seating area that includes a fire pit and pergola for entertaining and cow watching.

Walk-in Pantry

Existing laundry room has been reconfigured to create a more functional space for a dry storage pantry with a wine refrigerator.  Washer and dryer have been replaced with a single unit that has a smaller footprint to one side.

Living Room

Cabinetry is wall-hung with strip LED lighting that creates the illusion of floating cabinets extruding out from an existing wall niche in the living room.  The existing exposed brick fire place and hearth have been replaced by a mantle, hearth and fireplace surround that is formed from a single sheet of Caesarstone.
